The Gel Perfume

Sometimes in order to create something new, you don't have to run into the shop and buy things. Sometimes you already have all the needed things at home.

We created a gel perfume to bring good vibes and a nice smell into our daily lives.

Take a look at the video and let us know what you think!

The Eco-Boardgame

We put all our heads together to create something fun. But it´s not just fun- it´s something that makes us think about our planet and our behavior on the earth.

The boardgame is ready and everybody can have an overview how it looks like. Have fun!

Feedback from our students

Virtual Mobility 5.5.-11.5.2021

The Erasmus Project started on Wednesday and we had to wear the Erasmus t-shirt. After that we went to the IT-room to video-chat with our Erasmus partners.

Then we went into our groups, videochatted with them and got to know eachother. We told them about our „2 truths and 1 lie“ and most of us had a lot of fun

On Thursday we didn‘t get to videochat with them, but we did some crafting and so did the Spanish children. We made bags out of used t-shirts and room deodorizer.

On Friday we kept on working on our project tasks, like creating our board game, preparing the room deodorizer and our shopping bags. Some students already started to think about a dance choreography for a common dance.

Monday was a very busy day and we had a lot of work to finish for our presentation which took place on Tuesday.

On Tuesday, t 9:00 o'clock, we had our final video call where we held our presentation of our project results. In addition, the Spanish and the Austrian students prepared some traditional food. Although we had virtual mobility, we got really connected to our partners and had the chance to get to know each other.

Postcards from Spain

Before summer and at Christmas we sent our Spanish partner students cards in which we told them how we were doing with Covid-19. We also sent letters on the subject of the environment, what we can do to protect it, what we had done during the summer vacation and how we celebrated Christmas.

A few days ago we received colorful cards that they had designed themselves. On each card there is a creative drawing that goes with the theme of our project or with Covid-19. In the messages, they tell us how they spent Christmas, their opinion on Corona, what they are planning to do in the summer holidays and of course what they are doing for the environment.

We are very happy that we know such a nice and creative partner class, with whom we go through a difficult and complicated time and still work together on such an important project.

Thank you for your effort!

New Waste Management System

Waste separation at MS/VBS In der Krim and IES Torre del Rey

We have a new waste separation system in our school. We separate paper, plastic and residual waste and have acquired new rubbish bins for this purpose. In addition to the existing residual waste bin, there is now a new red paper bin and a yellow bin for the plastic bottles. In each class there are information cards that explain what goes in which rubbish bin.
We want to convey to the students that they not only pay attention to waste separation at school, but also at home. In doing so, everyone makes an important contribution to the environment. Why did we do that? In some classes the waste separation did not work at all. With the new rubbish bins, it is clearer for everyone what belongs where. The Erasmus group regularly checks each class to see whether the waste separation works better. So far it looks good!

Planting trees

The students of IES Torre del Rey participating at the Erasmus project planted trees in an area closeby school. We had a lot of fun and made new experience in gardening, which is not that easy as it seems.

Project meeting November 2019

Austrian teachers visit the Spanish Erasmus+ partners in Pilas

In November 2019 Christian Dorn, Anita Osmancevic and Barbara Höller-Öhner, three teachers from NMS/VBS In der Krim, travelled to Spain to visit the Erasmus+ partners from IES Torre del Rey in Pilas, Andalusia. The first meeting took place on Sunday, 17th November at Alicias home. Her husband showed us how to cook traditional Paella. Thank you, Manolo! It was the best we've ever eaten.

In the afternoon we visited the visitors' center of Guadiamar Nature Park (Parque natural Guadiamar). Our guide Yolanda told us all details about a mining accident of 1998. After this disaster the Corredor Verde del Guadiamar was inaugurated as an ecological corridor connecting Sierra Morena and Doñana, allowing animal species to move from one area to another. We also learned about the importance of the different types of landscapes through which the Guadiamar flows.

On Monday, 18th November, we experienced a very warm welcome, although the weather was pretty cold, at IES Torre del Rey. We met the headmaster, teachers and students and worked on our exchange program. After a short Skype Call with Vienna, we had an appointment with the mayor of Pilas. Our Spanish friend Alicia took us to a very special place in Pilas, where we tasted the best Churros in town.

After a late lunch we visited the olive factory „Aceitunas Escamilla“. They still pick their olives following the traditional method: by hand one at a time. After harvesting the modest modern technology is used. A very special thing about this factory is, that the water used for cleaning the olives is fully purified and free of any chemicals.

After getting up quite early on Tuesday, we had a trip to Doñana National Park which is located at Costa de la Luz at the Atlantic coast. It covers 543 km2 of which 135km2 are protected. It is an area of marshes, shallow streams, and sand dunes in Las Marisma, the delta where de Tuadalquivir River flows in the Atlantic Ocean. The park was established as a nature reserve in 1969 when the World Wildlife Fund joined with the Spanish government and purchased a section of marshes to protect it. It is named after Doña Ana de Silva y Mendoza. The park’s biodiversity is unique in Europe and it features a great variety of ecosystems and shelters wildlife and thousands of European and African migratory birds.

After a delicious lunch, thanks to Alicia, we made a short stop at Pilas’ new waste separation center.

On Wednesday we used the morning to continue our work on our exchange program. We met students and handed them letters written by the Austrian pupils. We also received some letters to take them back to Vienna.

In the late morning had a very interesting excursion to the Centa Foundation (Fundació Centa) at Carrión de los Céspedes. It is a center of New Water Technologies promoting better management of water resources. The CENTA Foundation is a platform for technology transfer and knowledge in all matters relating to water management. It operates through three areas: Research and Development, International Cooperation and Development of Society and Environment.
